Train station in Toulouse. We thought a night train from Paris to Toulouse was a good idea. It wasn't.
We arrived in Toulouse at 6:45am after not sleeping at all on the night train. We assembled our bikes in the train station and rode around Toulouse until we could check into a hotel for a nap at noon.
The first chain tattoo of the trip. I did this nearly everyday.
Toulouse was a cool city. It seemed that bikes could do no wrong in traffic. Even when they were doing something stupid.
Pedestrian section of Toulouse. In France, "pedestrian" includes bikes and motorcycles.
Toulouse has lots of cool old bridges.

Yet another Toulouse bridge.
The main square in Toulouse
The main square in Toulouse. It was late in the day and the brick buildings sort of glowed.
This is where we had dinner. There were probably 10 restaurants under this strip of tents.
While we ate dinner, a garbage truck circled the block about 10 times.

A memorial in a park that we stopped in Saint-Lys
A second memorial in the same park in Saint-Lys
Our bikes, on their first day of adventure.
This is the entire town of Saint-Lys. We where hoping to eat lunch here, but we arrived at 12:35, and turns out the whole place shuts down from 12:30-4:00 every day. No food for us!
This is Saint-Lys, mid-day. I think we saw 3 cars and 4 people in the hour we sat in the park.
Thinking hungry thoughts in Saint-Lys, the only shade of the day.
The countryside was beautiful. Corn fields and sunflower fields everywhere.
